Vacancy Details

There are a total of 210 vacancies distributed across four distinct Group-C posts. Please note that the vacancy counts and category-wise distributions are provisional and can be altered by the Directorate of Municipal Administration before the written exam takes place.

Eligibility

To be eligible for these positions, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

• Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
• Marital Status: Any candidate who has remarried while having a living spouse without obtaining prior sanction from the Government is ineligible. Similarly, a female candidate who marries a man who already has a living wife is not eligible for appointment without prior official permission.
• Physical & Mental Fitness: Candidates must be physically and mentally fit to execute the required duties. The final decision rests with the medical board of the appointing authority.
• Academic & Professional Integrity: Any candidate dismissed for cheating or impersonating in any test conducted by the UPSC, KPSC, KEA, other State PSCs, or universities is disqualified.
• Debarment Status: Candidates currently serving a temporary debarment period from any recruitment body or employer are ineligible for the entire duration of the debarment.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess the required qualifications and certificates as of the last date for submitting applications. Those awaiting final results or who do not have the marks card/certificate in hand should not apply.

• Mandatory Requirements: SSLC (Class 10) or its equivalent, along with a relevant ITI trade certificate and completed apprenticeship training.
• SSLC Equivalency: As per Government Order No. CI 81 SSNE 2017 dated 27.02.2018, the following qualifications are considered equivalent to SSLC:
  • Class 10 exams conducted by CBSE and ICSE boards.
  • Class 10 exams conducted by other State education boards.
  • Secondary-level courses of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
  • Secondary-level courses conducted by the Karnataka State Open School Education Board.

Age Limit

The candidate’s age will be determined as of the last date of application submission in accordance with the Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977.

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age (General Merit): Candidates in the General Merit category receive a one-time 5-year relaxation on the maximum age limit as per Government Order No. CI 262 SENE 2026 dated 29.01.2026.

Age Relaxations for Special Categories

Additional age relaxation, up to the ceilings defined in the Karnataka Civil Services Rules, 1977, is available for the following groups:

• Karnataka State Government / Local Authority / Government Undertakings employees: Relaxation equal to the years of service (maximum cap of 10 years).
• Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation equal to the period of military service plus 3 years.
• Full-time NCC Supervisors: Relaxation equal to the years served as a cadet supervisor.
• Gram Samooha Inspectors (Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme): Relaxation equal to the years of service.
• Special-Incentive Category: 10 years.
• Census Organisation Employees (GoI in Karnataka): Relaxation equal to the years of service (maximum cap of 5 years).
• Unremarried Widows (with no plans to remarry): 10 years (must possess a certificate from a competent authority).
• Retrenched Employees: 10 years (subject to verification of a certificate from a District Magistrate).

Application Fee

The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid using the online payment gateway. Candidates should verify their age, educational qualification, and experience prior to making the payment as no refund will be processed under any circumstances.

Salary

Newly selected candidates will undergo a 2-year probation period starting from the date of direct appointment. The applicable pay scales and pension rules are as follows:

• Water Supply Operator and Electrician Grade-1: Rs. 37,500-900-39,300-1,000-43,300-1,125-47,800-1,250-52,800-1,375-58,300-1,500-64,300-1,650-74,200-1,900-76,100
• Assistant Water Supply Operator and Electrician Grade-2: Rs. 34,100-800-35,700-900-39,300-1,000-43,300-1,125-47,800-1,250-52,800-1,375-58,300-1,500-64,300-1,650-67,600
• Pension Scheme: All four posts fall under the National Pension Scheme (NPS).

Selection Process

The selection will be based entirely on performance in a competitive written examination, which will be organized in either Online Computer Based Test (CBT) or Offline OMR-based format.

• Exam Pattern: The exam comprises two competitive papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2).
• Qualifying Score: General Merit candidates must score a minimum of 35% in the competitive exam to qualify.
• Negative Marking: Each wrong answer results in a deduction of 0.25 (one-fourth) of a mark. Selecting multiple answers for a single question is considered a wrong answer. There are no negative marks for unanswered questions.
• Compulsory Kannada Language Test:
  • A qualifying-only Kannada Language Paper of 150 marks is mandatory, requiring a minimum of 50 marks to pass.
  • This qualifying paper’s score is not considered for the final merit list.
  • Exemption: Candidates are exempt from this test if they have studied Kannada as a first or second language up to SSLC or higher, or if they have cleared an equivalent Kannada language test conducted by any competent authority.

Required Documents

Candidates must prepare the following documents in advance before starting the online application process:

• Aadhaar Card
• SSLC or equivalent marks card/certificate showing date of birth (or school transfer certificate/birth register extract)
• Required ITI / NTC / NAC marks cards and certificates valid as of the application closing date
• Discharge certificate and pension-related documents for Ex-Servicemen (or permanent disability certificate for dependents of Ex-Servicemen, if claiming relaxation)
• Caste certificate (for SC, ST, Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A, or 3B) in the prescribed format
• Rural candidature certificate (if claiming reservation)
• Kannada medium study certificate (if claiming reservation)
• Third-gender certificate issued by a District Magistrate (if applicable)
• Scanned passport-size photograph in JPEG format with a white background (size: 50KB to 200KB)
• Scanned signature in JPEG format (size: 50KB to 70KB)
