To access the online portal and download your admit card, as well as to gain entry into the examination hall, you must have the following details and documents ready:

Required to Download Online:

  • Your unique Registration ID or Roll Number generated during the initial application process.
  • Date of Birth (as recorded in the application portal).

Required to Carry to the Exam Centre:

  • A clear, physical printout of the downloaded e-Admit Card.
  • A valid, original government-issued photo identification proof. Acceptable IDs include:
    • Aadhaar Card
    • PAN Card
    • Voter ID
    • Driving Licence
    • Passport

Note: Candidates should thoroughly read the detailed instructions printed on their downloaded admit card to verify if any additional requirements, such as recent passport-sized photographs, are required.

How to Download UPSC Civil Services IAS Mains Admit Card 2026

Eligible candidates can retrieve their hall tickets by following the step-by-step process below:

  1. Go to the official portal of the commission at upsc.gov.in.
  2. Navigate to the “What’s New” or the “Examinations” category displayed on the home page.
  3. Search and click on the link labeled “e-Admit Card: Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026”.
  4. The system will direct you to the dedicated online admit card download platform (upsconline.nic.in).
  5. Choose your preferred login option: either through your Registration ID or Roll Number.
  6. Key in your credentials along with your Date of Birth.
  7. Solve the security verification/CAPTCHA code shown on screen and click on ‘Submit’.
  8. Your e-Admit Card will appear on the screen. Carefully review all personal details, photograph, test center location, and scheduled exam timings.
  9. Download the file and take a high-quality printout to secure your entry on exam day.

Important Instructions for UPSC Mains Candidates

  • Always carry a physical, printed copy of the hall ticket alongside your original photo ID to the venue. Soft copies stored on mobile devices or digital platforms will not be accepted as valid proof of entry.
  • Immediately upon downloading, double-check your name, registration number, photograph, allotted center, and timings.
  • If you spot any errors or discrepancies on your admit card, report them immediately to the UPSC administration via the official contact information listed on their portal.
  • Please note that the venue allotted by the commission is final and cannot be modified under ordinary circumstances.
