The High Court of Delhi has announced the vacancy notification for the Senior Personal Assistant (SPA) and Personal Assistant (PA) Examination 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill existing vacancies and establish a panel for future vacancies at the High Court of Delhi, New Delhi. Vacancy Details

A total of 150 Group ‘B’ vacancies are advertised for this recruitment cycle. The distribution of vacancies is as follows:

  • Senior Personal Assistant (SPA): 117 posts
  • Personal Assistant (PA): 33 posts

Important Note on Reservations & Categories:

  • There are no vacancies allocated under the General/Unreserved category for the Personal Assistant post. Therefore, any guidelines or clauses regarding the General category in the official notification apply exclusively to the Senior Personal Assistant post.
  • Horizontal reservation is applicable for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). Out of the total vacancies, 7 posts are reserved for PwBD in the SPA cadre, and 3 posts are reserved for PwBD in the PA cadre.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of India or subjects of Nepal (as per the guidelines issued by the Government of India). Subjects of Nepal are required to hold and produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India before an appointment offer can be extended.
  • Government Employees: Candidates currently working in regular government service must notify their employer/department and are required to furnish a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the Document Verification/Interview stage.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess the following qualifications to apply:

  • Must be a Graduate from a recognized University, Board, or Institution approved by the Government of India or its regulatory bodies.
  • Must possess the required English shorthand and typing speeds.
  • The final results of the qualifying educational degree must be officially declared on or before the application closing date (05.10.2026).
  • Candidates interested in applying for both posts must submit separate applications along with the individual application fee for each post.

Age Limit

The age criteria for applicants as of 01.01.2026 is detailed below:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 32 years
  • Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.01.1994 and not later than 01.01.2008.
  • The date of birth listed in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or its equivalent will be accepted as final.

Age Relaxations:

  • PwBD: Age relaxation is available for candidates with a benchmark disability of 40% or more, specifically within the reserved PwBD categories.
  • Widows, Divorcees, and Separated Women: Upper age relaxation up to 40 years is applicable as per the Government of Delhi instructions dated 23.04.1984.
  • Delhi High Court Regular Employees: No upper age limit is applicable for regular employees of the Delhi High Court who fulfill the educational qualifications. (Note: This relaxation is not available to employees working in other government bodies, PSUs, or Delhi District Courts).

Reservation Guidelines

  • Reservation Quota: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 10% for EWS, and 4% horizontal reservation for PwBD, subject to the orders of the Chief Justice. There is no reservation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) in these Group ‘B’ posts.
  • Certificate Cut-off Date: Valid category certificates must be issued on or before the application deadline (05.10.2026). If a candidate fails to present a valid certificate, their claim for reservation will be rejected and they will be evaluated under the Unreserved/General category (if eligible).
  • OBC Criteria: OBC candidates must possess a valid caste certificate issued by the competent authority of the Govt of NCT of Delhi, recognizing the caste under the Delhi OBC list. Central government OBC certificates are not valid. Additionally, a Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate issued during the Financial Year 2026-27 (from 01.04.2026 to 31.03.2027) is mandatory.
  • EWS Criteria: EWS candidates must submit an Income and Asset Certificate in the prescribed format, valid as on the last date of application submission.
  • The category/category code selected during registration cannot be modified later.

Application Fee

The registration fee must be paid during the online submission process. Note the following rules:

  • Payment Modes: UPI, Net Banking, Credit Card, or Debit Card.
  • Refund Policy: The fee is completely non-refundable and cannot be adjusted for other exams.
  • Applications without the required fee payment will be summarily rejected.
  • A separate application fee must be paid if applying for both Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant posts.

Salary & Pay Scale

Successful candidates will be appointed with the following pay matrix structures under the 7th CPC:

  • Senior Personal Assistant (SPA): Group ‘B’, Level 8 of the Pay Matrix
  • Personal Assistant (PA): Group ‘B’, Level 7 of the Pay Matrix

Selection Process

Candidates for both Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant posts will be selected through a rigorous four-stage evaluation process:

  1. Stage I: English Typing Test (Qualifying in nature)
  2. Stage II: English Shorthand Test
  3. Stage III: Main (Descriptive) Examination
  4. Stage IV: Interview

Important Rules of Selection:

  • The final merit list will be prepared based on the cumulative scores of Stage II, Stage III, and Stage IV.
  • In the event of a tie in marks, resolution will follow this order: Stage II marks -> Stage III marks -> Stage IV marks -> Date of Birth (older candidates ranked higher).
  • No candidate (including PwBD candidates) is exempted from any stage of the exam, including the Typing and Shorthand tests. No provision for a scribe or extra compensatory time is allowed for PwBD candidates.

How to Apply

Eligible candidates can apply online by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the official Delhi High Court website: www.delhihighcourt.nic.in.
  2. Register online using a valid email ID and an active mobile number to obtain your system-generated registration/application number.
  3. Fill out the detailed online application form.
  4. Upload a scanned, color passport-size photograph in JPEG format (file size: 100 KB to 200 KB). Ensure it is not more than three months old, with at least 3/4th face coverage.
  5. Capture and upload a live photograph using a webcam/mobile device, ensuring it matches your uploaded passport-size photo.
  6. Upload your left-hand thumb impression in JPEG format (50 KB to 200 KB). If the left-hand thumb is unavailable, the right-hand thumb impression may be uploaded.
  7. Upload your scanned signature in JPEG format (50 KB to 150 KB). Do not use capital letters or illegible script as this will lead to rejection.
  8. Submit the prescribed application fee through online payment modes (UPI, Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card).
  9. After successful payment, download and print the final Confirmation Page. Your application is not complete until this confirmation page is successfully generated.

Correction Window Details:

  • If you need to edit your application, a correction window will be open from 12.10.2026 to 14.10.2026.
  • Fields such as Name, Category, Date of Birth, and Mobile Number cannot be edited.
  • Corrections can be made up to a maximum of two times. The fee is Rs. 200/- for the first correction, and Rs. 500/- for the second correction.

Important Instructions for Candidates

  • Only online applications will be accepted; offline submissions will not be processed.
  • The medium of the entire examination will be English only.
  • Applicants must ensure their Name, Date of Birth, and Parent’s/Spouse’s name match the details printed in their Matriculation certificate exactly.
  • At each examination venue, candidates must carry two passport-size color photographs (identical to the uploaded photo) along with one original valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License, University/Government ID, Employer ID, or ESM Discharge Book).
  • There is no prior verification of eligibility before the Document Verification/Interview stage; all applications remain provisional.
  • Any active FIR or criminal proceeding must be declared in the application form. Hiding such details will result in immediate disqualification.
  • No TA/DA is provided for attending any of the selection tests or interviews.
  • Selected candidates should be prepared to work outside normal office hours and on holidays if necessary.
  • No requests for re-evaluation or re-checking of examination scores will be entertained.
