The Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) follows a structured pattern to evaluate the candidates’ abilities to teach at various levels. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The APTET comprises two main papers:

- Paper-II: For candidates aspiring to teach Classes VI to VIII.
Candidates with both D.El.Ed and B.Ed qualifications can choose to appear in both Paper-I and Paper-II.

Language Selection Criteria
Candidates must choose one of the following languages for Language-I: Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Odia, or Sanskrit. They should have studied the selected language either as the medium of study or as the first language up to Class X. Candidates who studied under the CBSE or ICSE curriculum can choose the language they studied up to Class X. Language-II will be English for all candidates.
Pass Criteria
The minimum qualifying marks for different categories are:

Candidates with at least 40% disability (visually, orthopedically, hearing impaired, and autism) shall be considered. The APTET certificate is valid for seven years from the date of examination. There is no restriction on the number of attempts for acquiring the APTET certificate, and candidates may retake the test to improve their scores.
